A few days back, I was pondering about a family of three brothers who were mediocre during school days and are a set of richest people in India today. They chose the right industries and products and today they are billionaires. In other words, they have proved that academic success is not a must in the journey to be Rich.
As you read this, please do not come to the conclusion that I am against academics. I also know many people who excelled in academics and also achieved great prosperity and success in life. My only submission is that we should not rush to any conclusion on this lovely topic. The Universal Intelligence, in its unique ways, teaches to be more humble and open. Let me discuss one important application of this point and that is with respect to our children.
I know many parents are mad about the academic progress of their children. I like their involvement and interest shown on their children. The standard of the education in countries like India is indeed improving every year. It is so interesting that parents need to learn a lot today to teach their children. But my considered opinion is that parents need not be too much obsessed about their children’s education. This is because parents’ desperation may result in children becoming to hate their studies.
No doubt today’s world is very competitive and children need to do very well to cope up with the competition. But this requires smart work than hard work. For example getting up early in the morning, guidance from a student in the higher class, combined study etc. can really help children in coping up with the high pressure in academics.
The most important point is the realisation that success in academic alone does not determine the future of your children particularly in the journey to be Rich. As parents, there is nothing wrong in giving importance to your children’s education. If for any reason, your child is not fairing well in studies, remember the great ‘trio’, who are billionaires today without great academics track record to boast of. My Spiritual & Life Mentor suggests that every parent need to keep saying, “My child will really do well in life.” This may not sound logical but works. This is proved even in my mentor’s own case. We discuss the importance positive words as a part of the esoteric approach to be Rich in our ‘Happy Road to be Rich’ program.
Enough of the serious stuff!! Look at this kid’s smartness!! A young boy went to a vegetable shop and read the following list to the shopkeeper:
- 2 kgs of potato at Rs. 30 per kg
- 1½ kgs of tomato at Rs. 40 per kg
- ½ kg of onion at Rs. 70 per kg
"How much I need to give you?" asked the boy. The shopkeeper replied, "Give me one hundred and fifty five rupees." The boy continued, "If I give you two hundred rupee currencies, how much balance you will return?" By this time the shopkeeper got irritated by the boy’s questions but nevertheless replied, "I will return sixty five rupees to you." The boy started to run and told the shopkeeper, "I don't want to buy these vegetables but must thank you for solving my Math homework for tomorrow." I am optimistic that this happy kid will become one of the richest in the world!!
