Mentee: In corporate life, I am sure you would have come across a lot of people with different nature. Can you share any interesting event?
Mentor: Why not? I am going back twenty five years in time. I was working for a leading group at Chennai as the Head of Finance for one of the group companies. I was reporting to a senior person, who had retired from a very reputed multinational company. He was always in a hurry to get things done. There was another colleague, who was taking care of legal function and was in a cabin next to my senior. At that time, this organization did not have intercom facility. My senior had the habit of banging the partition to call the legal head, which obviously was not liked by him. One day, he confronted my boss and told him, "This is not the way of calling people".
Mentee: What happened?
Mentor: Afterwords, my boss, who is equally a strong person, used to make a telephone call to invite the other person for discussion. Imagine the scenario, wherein two people sitting virtually next to each other, making a telephone call instead of just walking across.
Mentee: I am sure both of them had very high self-esteem, possibly bordering on ego. However, in retrospect, it is amusing.
